OSCAR M RUEBHAUSEN VISITING PROFESSORSHIP
Oscar M Ruebhausen, elected a Member and Director of The Foundation in 1950, was entrusted by Frank Greenwall in 1984 with the responsibility of overseeing the transition from a family foundation to an independent philanthropy. Mr. Ruebhausen served as Chairman from 1983 to 1991, and as Chair Emeritus until his death in 2004, after which a Visiting Professorship was established in his memory.
The program enabled the selected academic bioethics centers to host a visiting professor for three days during which the honoree delivered a major address and met with undergraduate and graduate students, fellows and other trainees, and faculty. Host institutions invited Visiting Professors to address an issue on which they had not previously written or spoken.
